4 Tips For Your First Time Zip Lining

Are you getting ready for your very first time zip lining, but have no idea what to expect? Here are some tips so that you can be well prepared for the experience.

Know What To Wear

While the number of layers you wear will ultimately depend on the weather where you are ziplining, there are some tips that apply to zip lining in both hot and cold weather. In general, wear something that you would wear if you were to go hiking in the area.

Keep in mind that you will be wearing a harness that you step into and wear around your legs and waist, so it's important to wear clothes that are going to work with the harness. This means that you should not wear skirts, and pants should be comfortable and close-fitting. Your shirt should also be something that is comfortable and not too tight. Wear closed-toe shoes that you can lace tightly on your feet so they don't fall off on the zip line.

Bring A Water Bottle That Can Clip On Your Clothes

Your zip line tour will likely take you from canopy to canopy, and once you start, it is difficult to turn back. That's why you'll want to bring a water bottle with you so that you can stay hydrated. However, it will help to have a water bottle that can clip onto your belt loop so that you do not lose it. Then you don't have to think about taking your water with you or dropping it on a zip line run.

Consider Renting A Wearable Camera

You'll likely want some pictures or videos so that you can remember your zip lining adventure, but you'll quickly realize how hard it is to hold a camera while you're zip lining. If you have the option to rent a wearable camera, consider getting one to make capturing the whole experience easier. It will certainly result in some high-quality video of you on the zip line runs and capturing the sights that you see without thinking much about it.

Practice Your Braking

You may have an area where you can practice a very short zip line run so that you can get the hang of it. Make sure you use this time to practice your braking and to learn how long it takes to do it. This can help prevent you from running into the end of the zip line at full speed, or from braking too early and being stuck in the middle of a zip line.
